Success at last!

Its been 12 years since it was last on the road but today the Safrane finally passed an MOT (safety) test

? drove it there on a road for the first time in 12 years - there and back - with my 7 year old son. He really likes the car!

I have a few other bits to sort out but now the main thing is done I am happy and can relax!

Congratulations! Did you weld the sills yourself?

Another question, didn't you have another Safrane 2.5? What happened to that one?

I've had three of them! This is number 1.

2 and 3 I liked but not as much and so when the time came, I dismantled them for parts.

I borrowed a neighbours welder - i've still got it lol.

When i took it for the MOT it was misfiring. It was doing this when driving too and was a bit scary at times as it could sometimes stall.. at traffic lights that's not a good idea!

I thought the automatic gearbox might be at fault.. so i searched google and came across a page suggesting the spark plugs may be at fault - it made sense because when the torque convertor locks in 4th, it got a lot worse.

Today i replaced the spark plugs and after setting the gaps on them, i noticed the old ones had much larger gaps.

Started the engine and it was very smooth. Took it for a test drive, no misfires at all and it was still very smooth!

I presume you know that changing your sparkplugs is a part of regular maintenance
